A
counter concert, called Haqeeqat-e-Kashmir to highlight, the turmoil of the
people over the last two decades was held, 10 km away from the Zubin Mehta
‘Ehsaas-e-Kashmir’ or ‘Feelings of Kashmir’ concert in Municipal Park in Srinagar.
The event was organized to oppose the concert of Zubin Mehta. Hundreds of
people participated in “Haqeeqat-e-Kashmir”.
Many
singers, artists joined the concert and expressed solidarity with Kashmir. Valleys
singer Irfan Bilal sung a Kashmir song depicting the sufferings and narrative
of situation of past more than two decades.
Meanwhile
Mastero Composer Zubin Mehta Performed in the Shalimar Garden amid heavy security.
Ehsaas-e-Kashmir, the event, a first of its kind in Kashmir, was organised by
the German ambassador to India, Michael Steiner.
Renowned
conductor Zubin Mehta's planned concert in Indian-administered Kashmir has run
into controversy with pro-freedom leaders and human rights activists opposing
it.
‘Ehsaas-e
Kashmir’ concert hit a controversial note with Kashmiri Pro-freedom leaders calling it an attempt to digress from the
human rights violations in the state. The separatists held a total shutdown of Srinagar
in protest.
